Antonio Cano Sánchez

Catedrático de Obstetricia y Ginecología de la Universidad de Valencia y Jefe de Servicio de esa especialidad en el Hospital Clínico Universitario de Valencia. Su interés principal es la Endocrinología Ginecológica.

Licenciado en Medicina por la Universidad de Valencia, donde fue becario del Colegio Mayor San Juan de Ribera de Burjasot. Doctorado en la Universidad de Bolonia (Italia), como becario del Real Colegio de España. Becario postdoctoral del British Council-Ministerio de Educación, en el Imperial Cancer Research Foundation (Cancer Research UK) de Londres. Desde entonces, lidera un grupo de investigación que trabaja sobre implicación de las hormonas en varios campos de la clínica, tales como la osteoporosis, la mama o el aparato cardiovascular.

Dirige el Master de Reproducción Humana, es autor de varios libros y artículos nacionales e internacionales, y editor asociado de las revistas Gynecologic and Obstetric Investigation y Maturitas. Es, igualmente, conferenciante regular en congresos nacionales e internacionales.

  • Postmenopausal osteoporosis: role of the calcium sensor receptor in the osteo formation and osteoblastogenesis: se ha descartado la intervención del receptor sensor del calico en las acciones del mismo sobre células osteoformadoras óseas.
  • Gonadal protection in pre-menopausal women treated with chemotherapy: se ha progresado en el proceso de inclusion de la cohorte, que se acerca ya a las 100 integrantes. Los estudios endocrinos están siendo incluidos en una base de datos.
  • Initial aterogenesis and gonadal steroids: se han completado experencias con ratones mutados para ApoE, ha sido publicada una revisión sistemática sobre el metabolismo óseo en el embarazo.
  • Vitamin D in women’s health: se ha concluido la cohorte, 1200 participantes. Se ha extendido el estudio al metbolismo óseo de la gestante.

Investigadores de INCLIVA y del IUVI desarrollan una nueva terapia para reducir las lesiones endometriósicas

Durante la menstruación, parte del tejido uterino endometrial en lugar de evacuarse por la vagina regresa al abdomen a través de las trompas de Falopio. Investigan si una molécula sintética de RNA eficaz en frenar la formación de vasos, sería capaz de controlar el desarrollo de las lesiones endometriósicas.
