Nicolás Garrido Puchalt

El Dr. Garrido es licenciado en biológicas por la Universidad de Valencia, en 1997, realizó estancia predoctoral en la Universidad Heinrich-Heine, en el Departamento de Ginecología, en Düsseldorf, Alemania. Doctorado por la Universidad de Valencia en 2001, con Premio Extraordinario de Doctorado en 2002, y Máster en Metodología de la Investigación Diseño y Estadística de la Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona en 2009. 

Pertenece al Grupo de investigación en infertilidad masculina y estimulación embrionaria coordinado por el Dr. José Remohí Giménez (http://www.incliva.es/investigacion/areas/reproductiva/grupo-de-investigacion-en-infertilidad-masculina-y-estimulacion-embrionaria) 

Director del Laboratorio de Andrología y Banco de Semen del Instituto Universitario IVI Valencia desde 2000 hasta 2016, del Programa de Docencia del IVI desde 2004 y el IVI Learning Center.

Compagina su actividad investigadora con la docencia como profesor externo de la Universidad de Valencia, con diferentes proyectos de investigación financiados por el gobierno regional y estatal. Cuenta con más de 350 comunicaciones en congresos, 80 capítulos de libro y 150 artículos originales o de revisión publicados, 130 de ellos en revistas internacionales con factor de impacto. Su labor investigadora ha sido reconocida por la Sociedad Española de Fertilidad en 2002 y 2004, por la Sociedad Española de Urología en 2004, y por la American Society of Andrology (2007, 2010 y 2011) y por la Fundación Salud en 2000 y 2010.

Dirige actualmente la Fundación IVI, donde se incluyen:

- IVI Learning Center del grupo IVI (actualmente 50 clínicas de infertilidad en todo el mundo, gestionando más de 120 cursos y 7 Máster, con más de 1600 alumnos/año)

- IVICO, la compañía del grupo IVI dedicada a proveer de entrenamiento, opciones de asesoría y consultoría a centros de reproducción asistida

- Unidad de Apoyo y Gestión de la Investigación de la Fundación IVI, departamento encargado de brindar apoyo y soporte metodológico a los investigadores en IVI.

 

En esta línea de investigación sobre la fertilidad masculina, se pretende descubrir factores relacionados con la fisiología de los espermatozoides y se están evaluando las técnicas de selección de espermatozoides para mejorar los resultados reproductivos.

In this research line about male fertility, factors related to sperm physiology are intended to be discovered, and sperm selection techniques in order to improve reproductive results are being evaluated.
